Chronic pain is persistent pain that lasts for more than 3-6 months, defying attempts to cure it and remaining unpredictable, confusing and uncontrollable. The experience has a significant effect on the person and their family and may disrupt thinking, feelings and behaviour. This afternoon will delve into the multifaceted nature of chronic pain, addressing its impact from both physical and mental health perspectives. Moreover, we will explore the intersection between trauma, chronic pain, and disability, offering insights into effective strategies for coping and resilience.

Disordered eating - 22 May 2024 from 19:00-21:00 (cancelled)
Secretive eating, emotional eating, food obsession and unhelpful thinking will all be explored during this workshop, and we will examine how disordered eating can spiral into eating disorders such as ARFID, anorexia, bulimia and binge eating and explore the long-term risks and support available. This evening presentation is created and presented by industry professionals including Wellspring Counselling, Somerset & Wessex Eating Disorders Association and the STEPs Eating Disorder service.
Many of us struggle with a disordered relationship with food and would benefit from more mindfulness and self-compassion regarding our dietary choices. This evening presentation, designed and delivered by industry professionals from Wellspring Counselling, Somerset & Wessex Eating Disorders Association, and the STEPs Eating Disorder service, aims to shed light on common challenges such as secretive eating, emotional eating, food obsession, and unhelpful thinking patterns. Diabetes management - 7 Feb 2024
Led by health professionals from the Harbourside Family Practice and the NHS Diabetes Prevention Programme, this information workshop will focus on Type 2 diabetes – looking at the signs of symptoms of both the pre-diabetic and diabetic condition and the challenges this serious health condition can present.
The session will provide useful strategies and signposting that can be employed to prevent, and where already necessary, to manage type 2 diabetes for maximum quality of life.
Living with chronic pain - 17 Jan 2024
Chronic pain is persistent pain lasting for longer than 3-6 months, defying attempts to cure it and remaining unpredictable, confusing and uncontrollable. The experience has a significant effect on the person and their family and may disrupt thinking, feelings and behaviour.
This 2 hour workshop will address the challenges of persistent pain from physical and mental health perspectives and address the experience of domestic abuse and the impact trauma has to chronic pain and disability.

This presentation is created and presented by industry professionals including Wellspring counsellor Susan Clarke and specialist Eating Disorder Dietitian, Ciara Heeney.
Menopause - 18 October 2023
Created and delivered by specialists from the Bristol Menopause Clinic, registered Dietician Dr Rebecca Hiscutt and Hels Bells Strength Coaching, with resource support from North Somerset Wellbeing Service. This session will cover topics including how to identify perimenopausal and menopausal signs and symptoms, recognise and provide for your wellbeing and physical needs and the clinical and non-clinical support available to help smooth the transition during this important life-cycle stage.
