Museums & Art Galleries

Pannett Art Gallery and Whitby Museum are situated in Pannett Park, right in the centre of Whitby.

Alongside the two permanent displays in the Weatherill and Staithes Galleries, Pannett Art Gallery has regularly changing exhibitions all years round from both local and international groups.

Whitby Museum is a treasure trove of local history from fossils found in the Whitby area to Captain Cook and Scoresby. It's run by the Whitby Literary & Philosophical Society.

There is also the Captain Cook Museum, situated on Grape Lane in a 17th century house on Whitby's Harbourside where young James Cook lodged as an apprentice.

Whitby Pavilion & Stephen Joseph Theatre

Situated on the Cliffside overlooking Whitby Bay this unique venue offers a range of different spaces, catering for a host of events. There are constantly events of all kinds going on at the Pavilion, so check out their website.
