Latest Bus Meeting Updates

The latest bus meeting to discuss changes to the bus service in Portishead was held on Wednesday 29 June at The Folk Hall in Portishead. Attended by representatives from North Somerset Council Transport Unit and First Bus, the meeting was well attended by residents of Portishead who raised their concerns over the continuing situation with the bus service in Portishead.

There is some good news from North Somerset Council who announced that following a successful bid to the Department for Transport (DfT), over £105m funding has been allocated for improvements, with £48m earmarked for capital improvements in North Somerset alone.

£57.5m will be used as a pooled revenue fund with the West of England Combined Authority to enable delivery of the Bus Service Improvement Plan.

They also announced that they are aiming to re-instate the bus service to Cribbs and on to Southmead, when driver and vehicle resources permit them to contract it.

First Bus also discussed their biggest challenge is the shortage of drivers, which is an issue they are addressing.
