Statement from PTC Chairman Paul Gardner re: Town Clerk
News - 10 November 2020
Martin has done an outstanding job for PTC since he joined in February. Unfortunately, he has an underlying health condition which needs managing, a condition that we were aware of when he was offered the post of Clerk. Now however, he also needs an amount of time away to act as a carer for some members of his family. Martin’s knowledge, expertise and passion to get things done for the Portishead community have been invaluable and we are pleased that he has agreed to remain with the Council, taking a different role with reduced hours, concentrating on budgets, finance and special projects.
The Council is now seeking a new Clerk and will engage a Locum Clerk until a suitable permanent replacement can be found.
Until a Locum Clerk is in place, Cllr Bob Bull will act as interim Town Clerk on a voluntary basis. The Town Councillors are actively supporting our council staff through this period to make sure that all necessary activities are properly covered.
