Keeping A Lid On Litter

Keeping a lid on litter
Portishead Town Council is helping to keep a lid on litter problems in the town.
The council has recently installed a number of new litter bins with covered tops that help prevent litter blowing out of them when nearly full.
Some have been placed at new sites, while others have replaced bins that had been damaged.
The new installations include two bins in The Precinct near the beginning of the High Street in addition to bins on The Triangle, West Hill; at the multi use games area in Station Road, in Wyndham Way by the kebab van and in front of the retail park that includes Peacocks.
Town clerk, Jo Duffy, said: “We have three more bins to install, one of which will go outside Nat Wet Bank in the High Street, but we are keen to hear from members of the public as to where the other two might be best placed.”
Anyone with suggestions of where the remaining two bins may be sited should contact the clerk at [email protected].
Mrs Duffy added: “If residents feel we have a strong need for more bins the council is happy to investigate and order more if necessary.”
