Footway/Cycleway Completion Works, Harbour Road, Portishead
News - 7 January 2019
North Somerset Council would like to advise you that the developer (Persimmon Homes Ltd) will be commencing footway/cycleway completion works along the section of Harbour Road between the Station Road and Newfoundland Way junctions, starting on Monday the 7th January 2019. The works include replacement of street lighting, construction of cycleway/footways, replacing damaged kerbs and channel blocks, installation of two loading bays, re-surfacing works to the footways and the provision of highway verge areas.
The appointed contractor Lake Eagle Ltd have programmed for the works to take 14 weeks, with a completion date of the 12th April. The developer’s agent has advised local businesses and the contractor will be carrying out a letter drop this week to all residents that front onto the proposed works.
During the works short sections of the footway will be closed with pedestrians diverted to the footway on the other side of Harbour Road. Access will be maintained to properties and businesses at all times whilst the works are being carried out, however, some disturbance is unfortunately inevitable with this type of essential work.
The works will be carried out Monday to Friday between 7.30am and 4.30pm. It is not proposed to carry out any works over the weekends.
The Highways and Transport Development New Works Team will be carrying out regular inspections of the works and dealing with the day to day issues arising on site.
If you require any further information about the work or if any problem arises during the works then please do not hesitate to contact North Somerset Council on Tel (01934) 426236 during normal working hours.
The developer’s contractor would like to apologise in advance for any inconvenience or disruption the work may cause, but has asked for both residents and road users to be patient throughout the period of the works. He will make every effort to ensure that the impact on the local community is kept to a minimum.
